Gentlemen Discussing Mother 3 Part 2

Download

Gentlemen Discussing Mother 3 is the second in a series of 3 podcasts dedicated to analysis, opinions and trivia on the video game Mother 3. Warning: may contain facts, lies and coarse language.

Mother 3, the long-awaited sequel to the cult RPG Earthbound, was released for the GBA in 2006 and translated 2 years later by a dedicated group of fans. The game holds a special place in our hearts because of its unique, cliche-defying approach to the RPG genre.

This podcast covers chapters 4-6 of Mother 3, and contains extremely heavy spoilers (for those chapters only). It is intended for people who have already finished those chapters. If you haven’t played up to the end of chapter 6, then procure a ROM, get the translation patch, get an emulator, and play along with us! You won’t regeret it!

If you haven’t listened to part 1 yet, you can listen to it here.

Great podcast! Here’s a few things I noticed in the game:
DCMC stands for Desperado Crash Mambo Combo;
The pigmask army look similar to storm troopers from Star Wars;
When everyone is in disguise, Lucas’s jacket is reminiscent of Han Solo, Kumatora and Duster are in storm trooper outfits (much like when Luke Skywalker and Han Solo were in disguise in Episode IV), and Boney would be playing the part of Chewbacca.

Thanks for listening!
I was wondering what DCMC stood for, that is really neat. That Star Wars thing is also cool. The Pig Masks are a nice subversion of faceless soldiers like Stormtroopers in my opinion, at first I rapidly hated and dehumanized them. But I later understood they were misguided people.
I’m sorry that you comment isnt mentioned on part 3 of the podcast. We just noticed your comment after we finished recording.
